This is a once-weekly, 60-minute group for adult individuals who:
- Are currently employed OR are seeking a new job due to related anxiety issues
- Have struggled with significant anxiety over specific career/work related issues
This group will focus on the 10 Steps Toward Managing your Stress:
- Identify Your Symptoms of Job Stress
- Identify the Sources of Your Job Stress
- Identify How You Respond to Your Specific Job Stressors
- Set Goals to Respond More Effectively to Your Job Stressors
- Motivate Yourself
- Change Your Thinking
- Deal with Your Boss
- When in Conflict, Negotiate
- Pace and Balance Yourself
- Know When to Quit
After the foundation material has been covered, participants will be allowed to choose which of the following topics they would like the group to discuss/focus on:
- Sexual Harassment: How do I know it is happening & what can I do about it?
- Promotions/raises/family leave: How do cope with anxiety when I have those conversations in my career?
- I am afraid of/having a major conflict with someone at work: How do I cope with that fear; how & who do I approach at work to find out if the fear is justified? What steps can I take to getting the conflict resolved?
- Fear 2.0: I worry a lot that I am going to do something wrong and get fired or demoted. What choices do I have to cope with that anxiety? Is there a way to better understand if my fears accurate/are truly a part of the way the company is run?
- Getting unstuck: Help, I’ve tried everything that my therapist has suggested and I still feel so much career anxiety, what are some things I can do to get unstuck?
- I have to Quit!: How to quit safely and start your new career/job search more effectively
- Job Search: How do I cope with my anxiety when I am looking for a new job while I am still working at my present job? When I am unemployed? Is there a difference?
